Today Tuesday (September 10), the government has removed the presidents of 42 sports federations, associations and bodies of the country under the authority of the National Sports Council Act.
The notification signed by Humayun Kabir, assistant secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said, “With the power given in Section 22 of the National Sports Council Act, 2018, the government has established the following federations/associations/boards/organizations for the purpose of more active and reforming the activities of the existing federations/associations/boards/organizations in the country.” The presidents are hereby exempted.’
However, the presidents of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) were not removed as they were not covered by this law. However, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon has already resigned. Former cricketer Farooq Ahmed has become the new president. Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association, Bangladesh Amateur Boxing Federation, Bangladesh Deaf Sports Federation, Bangladesh Bashaup Association, Bangladesh Rugby Federation, Bangladesh Fencing Federation, Bangladesh Baseball Softball Association, National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Surfing Association, Bangladesh Mountaineering Association, Bangladesh Chuckball Association, Bangladesh Sepak Takro Association, Bangladesh Jujutsu Association, Bangladesh Para Archery Association, Bangladesh Throwball Association,

However, before issuing this notification, the Ministry of Youth and Sports had removed the president of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and released the president of Bangladesh Bridge Federation. The presidents of the remaining federations, organizations and associations have also been removed from their duties.
It should be noted that a total of 55 federations, associations and organizations are affiliated to NSC.
