48th Hassan II Golf Trophy (1st day): American Steve Pate finishes in the lead

Rabat – American Steve Pate took the lead in the ranking of the first day of the 48th edition of the Hassan II Golf Trophy, organized from February 19 to 24 at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

With a card of 67 strokes, or 6 under par, Steve Pate beat the Australians Steve Allan and Mark Hensby who each achieved a total of 68 strokes (5 under par).

The first day of the 48th edition of the Hassan II Trophy saw the participation of 66 professional golfers, including the Canadian Stephen Ames, defending champion, the American Tom Lehman, former world No. 1, as well as the Spaniards Miguel Angel Gimenez and José Maria Olazabal.

This edition, which is held under the theme “The return of the champions”, will continue on Friday with the second day.

The competitions will end on Saturday with the award ceremony for the winners of the 48th edition of the Hassan II Trophy and the 27th edition of the Lalla Meryem Golf Cup.

It should be noted that Morocco remains to this day the only country to organize, in the same city, on the same dates and at the same location, a men’s and women’s event included in the European golf calendars.
