Marked by the presence of eminent personalities and members of the deceased’s family, the ceremony saw the screening of a video retracing the journey of the late Abdelkader Retnani, as well as the presentation of a commemorative plaque to the deceased’s widow, Amina Retnani.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Wali of the Oriental region, governor of Oujda-Ankad, Mouad Jamai, announced that one of the rooms of the Oujda Regional Library will bear the name of the late who was one of the founders of the Maghreb Book Fair “Lettres du Maghreb”.
For his part, Mohamed Mbarki, president of the Salon, indicated that the late Retnani was a “great volunteer” in the service of books and culture, who had encouraged young writers and provided support and assistance to the bookstores of Oujda.
For his part, the son of the deceased, Yassine Retnani expressed his thanks and gratitude for this posthumous tribute to his father, indicating that the publishing house “La Croisée des Chemins”, founded by his father in 1980, will donate the books of the late Abdelkader Retnani to the Regional Library of Oujda.
Born in 1945 in Casablanca, the late Retnani was founding president of the Moroccan Association of Book Professionals (AMPL) and vice-president of the Federation of Cultural and Creative Industries of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.
A great sports enthusiast, the deceased was president of the Raja Casablanca club (1985-1989).
