Chepauk Soup Gillies (Chennai) defeated Salem Spartans by 7 wickets in the 22nd match of the TNPL cricket tournament on Tuesday.
This is Chennai’s 4th win in the tournament. In this match, first Salem scored 113 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, then Chepak won by scoring 117 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 14.5 overs.
Chepak, who won the toss earlier, was fielded, and Salem’s opening batsman Gopinath scored 42 runs with 4 fours and 1 six. Jaff Jamal 6, Ravi Karthikeyan 12, S. Ganesh 11, Akshay Srinivasan and Daryl Ferrari ducked out. At the end of the Ovs, S. Abhishek remained unbeaten with 23 runs and captain Murugan Ashwin with 14 runs.
Manimaran Siddharth took 3 wickets, Sonu Yadav, Ramdas Alexander, Arun Kumar took 1 wicket each in Chepak bowling.
Then in the Chepak batting, captain Kaushik Gandhi scored 46 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Narayan Jegatheesan fell for 39 and Uthrasamy Sasidev fell for 1 run. In the end, Sonu Yadav led the team to victory with 26 and Rajagopal Satish 1 run. Murugan Ashwin, Daryl Ferrario and Ravi Karthikeyan took 1 wicket each in the Salem team.
