The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the imprisonment of 5 officers of the Deterrence Service for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime, on charges of killing citizen Rabih Abu Ajila.

According to what the office stated in a report, the Public Prosecution filed a criminal case against the perpetrators of an incident of torture that led to the death of citizen Rabih Abu Ajila.

The commander of the Deterrence Service for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime sent a notification of the death of the victim as a result of the injuries he died from. The Deputy Public Prosecutor, in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, conducted an investigation, the results of which revealed the fact that the victim was exposed to violence, represented by a beating with a hard object that resulted in bleeding. Kidney failure did not escape its complications.

Subsequently, the investigator interrogated those assigned to provide evidence by the victim. It was confirmed that 5 officers were responsible, and thus the Public Prosecution decided to detain them pending investigation.

Earlier, the National Institution for Human Rights in Libya reported that the Public Prosecutor’s Office had begun investigation procedures into the incident of the killing of citizen Rabi’ Abu Ajila Ahmed Nasr under torture, after his freedom was arbitrarily detained and he was tortured, until he died, by security personnel affiliated with the Deterrence Service to Combat. Organized crime and terrorism.

The Foundation’s Fact-Finding, Monitoring and Documentation Department previously monitored and documented the death of 46-year-old citizen Rabih Abu Ajila Ahmed Nasr, as a result of severe physical torture that led to the loss of his life and his death under torture, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the headquarters of the Deterrent Anti-Crime Service. Organization and terrorism, after his freedom was arbitrarily detained and tortured until he died by members of the agency, without permission from the Public Prosecution to detain and arrest him, and without a legal basis and justification for his detention, according to the National Institution for Human Rights.
