Carlos Nassar felt the love of the people in full force. For 5 hours, the Olympic champion and world record holder in weightlifting signed autographs and took pictures with all the young and old fans who came for the special meeting with Bulgaria’s new favorite at the NV Tower in Sofia.
The photos were even more valuable, because during the tiring and pleasant 5 hours Nassar’s friend – the golden girl from the Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics ensemble Magdalina Minevska, helped everyone. While Carlos gave countless smiles, Magdalena literally “played matches” with mobile phones, after kindly offering the crowd golden help for the memorable photos.
And the people, some of them waited for 4 hours, left satisfied with the golden opportunity. Parents shared that they brought their children from different parts of Bulgaria – from Varna, from Burgas, from Plovdiv…
After conquering the Olympic and world summit and returning to Bulgaria with the Olympic gold, the Bulgarians do not stop showing their great love for our only athlete with a world record in Olympic sports in the 21st century.
That is why the special meeting with the fans was organized. The event was held with the assistance of “Minstroy” – sponsor of Carlos Nassar in his sports performances and training, and with the support of NV Tower and NV Sport.
And there was a real gold hysteria.
More than two hours before the official start of the meeting – 12:00 p.m., in front of the emblematic building NV Tower at 59 G.M. Dimitrov Blvd. in Sofia, long queues of impatient fans formed. And Carlos – with a big smile, started signing autographs earlier than announced.
Fans could also utake part in a raffle for many special prizes provided by the sponsor for the event – Carlos Nassar t-shirts and kits, vouchers for accommodation at the Borovets Hills Hotel and the Orpheus Devin Hotel, subscriptions and vouchers for the sports center where the Olympic champion trains – NV Sport.
During the meeting, there were three long queues – the continuously growing nearly 3 hours in front of the NV Tower, in the lobby of the entire first floor and another in the special room for the meeting with Nassar on the second floor.
After the long hours of personal attention to everyone, Carlos Nassar told “24 Hours”: “None of my smiles were artificial, because people are happy for me from the bottom of my heart!”.
“I feel the love of the people, but I try to keep my feet firmly on the ground, because it is during ups and downs that you can lose your human qualities. I have lost them, I have gone through this. And I know that at such a moment you are not yourself. That’s when a person is at their weakest. That’s why I plan to never allow it again. The way we deal with problems makes us a champion,” Nassar also told “24 Chasa”.
“The Olympic Games remain in the past, I look forward to new achievements,” added the great champion.
For the finale, Carlos Nassar thanked the people who reached out to him before winning the Olympic gold medal and Nikolay Valkanov personally. “He took care of my preparation since the beginning of the year. I thank him. It is because of such people that such successes are possible. He also organized this great event. I thank him once again from the bottom of my heart,” said Nassar.
The big star of Bulgarian sport Carlos Nasar brought Olympic gold to our country after smashing the competition in cat. up to 89 kg at the weightlifting tournament of The Olympic Games in Paris. Not only did Nassar win an Olympic title, but he also set new world records in the clean and jerk.
