Friend Lemoa

Formerly known as “Mirror of Heaven”this lagoon is one of the least known tourist places in the country and is located in the department of Quiché.

It is an extremely relaxing place, ideal for spending time with family and friends, it has trails for walking, canoes that you can rent to explore the lagoon, small piers, and barbecue grills.

The landscape is unmissable, in addition to having a climate between cool and cold. Admission is completely free and you only pay for the rental of the canoes if you wish. From Guatemala City to Laguna Lemoa there are 3 hours 53 minutes on the road, that is, 151.0 kilometers along the Pan-American CA-1 route..

Sierra de los Cuchumatanes

It is the highest non-volcanic region in all of Central America with 3,837 meters above sea level. Your name means “United with great force”which is given by the Mam language.

It is the best option for ecological parks, recreation and wildlife, it has a humid and cold climate. To get there from Guatemala City, you must travel 6 to 8 hours on the highway, heading to the department of Huehuetenango.

Los Amates Waterfall

It is a place that you must visit if you travel to the department of Santa Rosa. It is surrounded by vegetation and is one of the highest waterfalls in Guatemala.

It has approximately 50 meters of water fall and 20 meters in length. To get there you need a four-wheel drive vehicle since it is located after a 14-kilometer dirt road.

In the place there is no telephone signal and you can practice rappelling, sport that tries to quickly lower vertical walls with the help of a harness, in this case it is done next to the waterfalls. From Guatemala City to the Los Amates Waterfall it is 3 hours and 56 minutes on the way, that is, 200.4 kilometers along the CA-9 route to the Atlantic.

Risks of Momostenango

They are vertical rocks of earth that are created by the erosion of earth that occurs over the years. It offers a wonderful view of the surrounding forests, it is located in the municipality of Momostenango, in the department of Totonicapán.

It is believed that its name comes from the Nahuatl meaning: “wall of idols”. To get to the Riscos de Momostenango National Park from Guatemala City, you must drive along the Inter-American route CA-1 in the direction of the department of Totonicapán.
