5 people were arrested for trading counterfeit products in Rhodes

Arrested on November 1, 2023 in Rhodes, five citizens (three men and two women) against whom the same number of criminal cases were filed, by the Security Sub-Directorate of Rhodes, for the specific offenses of forgery, fraud, accepting and disposing of proceeds of crime, violation of the procurement code, intellectual property legislation and violence against employees and court officials.
More specifically, in the context of checks carried out by a team of the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DIMEA), a total of 10,102 items (clothing, bags, accessories, etc.) were identified in five commercial shops-businesses, which, as it was found, constitute imitation and copy products of genuine brands of well-known companies.
Also, in one case, a shop owner attacked a police officer who participated in the inspection.
More specifically, on November 1, 2023 and around 1:00 p.m., D.M.E.A. went to Hippodamou Street to a clothing store owned by a 47-year-old citizen and was found to be in possession of a quantity of 1175 pieces of counterfeit products, bearing the trademarks of the companies “GUCCI”, “PRADA”, “MONCLAIR”, “FENDI”, “TOMMY HILFIGER”, “BALENCIAGA” “, “MICHAEL KORS”, “HARLEY DAVIDSON”, “RALPHLAUREN”, “GANT”, “MOSCHINO”, “PHILIP PLEIN”, “MCM”, “HERMES”, “CHANNEL”, “MARC JACOBS”, “MERCEDES”, “BMW”, “OFFWHITE”, “CELINE”, “YSL”, “CHELSEA”, “NBA”, “PREMIERLEAGUE”, “MCITY”, “PAO”, “AEK”, “OLYMPIAKOS”, “BARCELONA”, “JUVENTUS “, “ARSENAL”, “PSG”, “PUMA”, “ADIDAS” and “BAYERN MUNICH”.
The company was fined €6,000.
-In another business on the same street owned by a 39-year-old, in the presence of a 63-year-old woman, 466 pieces of counterfeit products were found – bags, wallets and hats, bearing the trademarks of the companies “CHANNEL”, “ADIDAS”, “MICHAELKORS, “PRADA”, “BALENCIAGA” , ‘YSL’, ‘DIOR’, ‘MARC JACOBS’, ‘MCM’, ‘KANKEN’, ‘GUCCI’, ‘DIESEL’, ‘ARMANI’, ‘BOSS’.
An administrative fine of 1,500 euros was imposed on the company.
– In a store on Sokratous Street owned by a 31-year-old man, 2,512 pieces of counterfeit products were found (bags, wallets, shoes, T-shirts, leggings, dresses, jewelry and hats), bearing the trademarks of the companies MIU MIU, PRADA, VALENTINO, TOMMY, POLO, DIOR, GUESS, PINK, HERMES, ‘MK, VICTORIAS, BULGARI, CHANNEL, GIVANCY, MONCLER, KENZO, CK, NIKE, LACOSTE, GANT, CARTIER, TIFFANY, ROLEX, MONT BLANK and VAN CUFF ARPYES.
An administrative fine of €10,000 was imposed on the company.
-Furthermore, a 47-year-old man was arrested as a temporary manager in a clothing store in Faliraki because he had for sale counterfeit products bearing brands of branded companies.
During the inspection, a quantity of 4,584 pieces of imitation products were found, which were seized and taken to the landfill in the Gennadi area of ​​Rhodes for destruction. An administrative fine of 40,000 euros was imposed on him. The contraband was confiscated and destroyed.
