Lucknow: Five state Congress leaders have resigned in a row on the orders of interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi has demanded the resignation of state Congress committee leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur following the Congress’ defeat in five state elections. Goa and Uttarakhand leaders subsequently resigned. Subsequently, Uttar Pradesh State Congress leader Ajay Kumar Lallu resigned from his post, taking responsibility for the party’s defeat.
