The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in a meeting today approved 11 projects, for which the expenditure will be 5 thousand 459 crore 87 lakh taka.

Out of this, government funding of Tk 5,214 crore 34 lakh, foreign funding of Tk 1,400 crore and Tk 105 crore 9 lakh of the organization’s own funding will be spent.

The approval was given at the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla city on Tuesday (July 2) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and ECNEC chairperson Sheikh Hasina. Planning Minister Abdus Salam gave this information at the press conference after the meeting.

He said that among the approved projects are the ‘Dhaka Region Agricultural Development’ project of the Ministry of Agricultural Resources; 2 projects of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives namely ‘Important Rural Infrastructure Development in Barguna District’ and ‘Important Rural Infrastructure Development in Munshiganj District’; ‘Land Acquisition for Raipura 120 MW (AC) Peak Grid Tide Solar Power Plant’ project of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; Ministry of Industry’s ‘Basic Printing Industry City’ project; Ministry of Social Welfare’s ‘Establishment of Child Development Centers, Kishoreganj, Joypurhat and Chittagong’ project; Department of Secondary and Higher Education ‘Establishment of Islamic Arabic University’ project; ‘Upgradation of Comilla-Salda-Kasba (Syedabad) Road (N-114) to National Highway’ project of Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges; Housing and Public Works Ministry’s ‘Urban Building Protection’ Project; Ministry of Shipping’s ‘Establishment of Pillars on the Banks of Buriganga, Turag, Shitalakshya and Balu Rivers, Construction of Ancillary Infrastructure including Shore Guards, Walkways and Jetties (Phase 2)’ and Ministry of Home Affairs’s ‘Construction of Administrative and Barrack Buildings of Bangladesh Police Police Stations in different parts of the country’.

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md. Tajul Islam, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Farooq Khan, Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Housing and Public Works Minister R.A.M. Ubaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand, Agriculture Minister Md. Abdus Shahid, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Samant Lal Sen, Minister of Youth and Sports Nazmul Hasan, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Saber Hossain Chowdhury and Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury participated in the meeting.

The Cabinet Secretary, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Chief Coordinator of SDG, Planning Commission members, Senior Secretaries and Secretaries of concerned ministries and senior officials were present in the meeting.
