Five wolf cubs were born in the demonstration enclosures of the National Park “Belovezhskaya Pushcha” for the first time, BelTA informs with reference to the national park. This is the first time in the history of the national park that this has happened. “The cubs have grown a little, but they don’t want to eat from a saucer. Behave carefully. They rarely come out of the hole and, at any sound, they hide in the den, ”they told about the behavior of the kids in the scientific department.
Puberty in wolves occurs at the age of two. The rut takes place in January-February, the birth of cubs occurs in the spring. There can be up to 12 wolf cubs in a litter, but usually 4-6. These little predators grow very quickly.
“Wolves are exemplary spouses without a stamp in their passport. An attentive partner participates in the upbringing of the cubs in full. In the first weeks of life, wolf cubs feed only on mother’s milk, but already at the age of one month, babies greedily eat half-digested meat food, which both parents “prepare” for them,” the scientific department noted.
