About 50 exhibitors from 30 settlements in the country took part in the fifth edition of the “Festival of Crafts and Arts – Dobrich“, which took over Svoboda Square from Friday to Sunday. Deputy Mayor Vladimir Trendafilov pointed out that this event can be an example of good cooperation between the municipality and private business.

The festival is organized by the “Dobruja – History, Traditions, Culture” foundation. It aims to preserve the folk tradition and preserve the cultural heritage of our ancestors, as well as to give the opportunity to all modern masters to show their creativity and share what they have produced with “It is gratifying that among the many festivals that take place at the same time in the country, the participants have chosen Dobrich to exhibit their production,” said Pepa Rasheva – chairman of the “Dobrudja – History, Traditions, Culture” foundation. “I thank the participants in the music program who bring joy and inspiration with the Bulgarian rhythms during the festival days. I thank the members of the Dobrudzha Association of Crafts and Arts who gave live demonstrations during the festival days,” she added. Profiled educational institutions participated in the festival event, which presented specialties related to handicrafts and arts. With demonstrations, craftsmen presented artistic processing of iron, wood, leather, fused glass, as well as making belts, tservuli, ornaments and other products. Folk music ensembles from schools and community centers from Dobrichka region saturated the musical program with songs and dances.
Encho Strezev from Tervel, who participated in the festival for the second time with his company Strezev Design, offers clocks, wall panels, advertising plaques, various souvenirs made of wood, plywood and other materials. “People buy, but more often for certain occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It is difficult for any business, mine is no exception. This kind of exhibition has its place, because every buyer wants to see what is offered live,” says the master .

“It’s good that there are festivals and farm fairs like this so we can sell our produce. For years now, we have not sold honey wholesale, only at exhibitions. The reason is the price offered – about BGN 4 per kg, much below the cost price of honey. The retail price is over BGN 6,” says Maria Kostadinova from an apiary with 205 hives near the Krushar village of Zimnitsa. She adds that the business is a family business, they have been producing honey for 30 years. “This year the “Bouquet” honey is very good, we produced and a little acacia honey, as there was none last year,” explains Kostadinova.

This year, within the framework of the festival, the first competition for a young artist was held, in which students from Dobrich, Varna and Tervel participated.
