Mateva pointed out that there is no educational qualification for members of the SEC, and after so many elections in recent years, most of them were very experienced. He expects it will be much easier for them now because there is only one kind of choice.
“Many people called to ask for BGN 25 for correctly filled out protocols. 50% of the protocols were correctly filled out and they received their remuneration,” Mateva said after the CEC awarded the amount for each protocol filled out without error in the last elections. It is yet to be assessed whether there will be one now.
However, Mateva is worried that there will again be replacements of members of section committees until the last moment. And he complained that some members only formally attended the trainings. “This should not happen just for reward, it is a duty to society,” the CEC spokeswoman insisted.
The issue with the warehouse for storing the machines has not yet been resolved – the lease term expired at the end of July. It has been extended until September 30, but the landlord has warned that he will not continue to fulfill the obligations. The CEC again insisted on a state-owned warehouse for the purpose. According to her, the state had the opportunity to build one in such a long time. To the words of the authorities that they are looking at military grounds, Mateva said that they were already shown one – in one of the previous governments. A subsequent minister, however, said that the property was not a necessity.
According to her, there is no problem with the paper for the machines, but it would be nice if the BNB printing house gave public details on the subject.
