Since 1988, Bangladesh has been performing its duties by sending 83,000 peacekeepers to 25 countries through 45 peacekeeping mission activities managed by the United Nations.
At present, the various activities of the United Nations in Bangladesh are widely noticeable. United Nations UNESCO declared February 21 as International Mother Language Day on November 17, 1999.

The main objective of the United Nations is to ensure the overall development and peaceful coexistence of the world through mutual assistance. The annual session is conducted with such an objective.
This session has started on 10 September. The session is expected to discuss future-oriented issues including conflict resolution, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and helping developing countries.
The United Nations General Assembly is the only branch of the organization, where all 193 member states are represented and have the opportunity to speak at meetings. Informal meetings between leaders outside of meetings are usually more important.
