The mayor of Santa Tecla, Henry Flores, reported that the Alturas de Tenerife Residential Complex will be fined $5,000 for having denied entry to the Metropolitan Police Corps of Santa Tecla (CAMST) and members of the National Civil Protection System, who were going on a fumigation campaign in response to the national dengue emergency.
The councillor pointed out that it was found that there are two administrations there, the board elected by the residents and the project developer who hires the administrator, but neither of the parties carry out periodic fumigations, nor do they have the equipment to do so. On the contrary, the authorities were obstructed even though the request was made by several residents.
However, both the developer and management charge maintenance fees.
In this regard, the municipality will also fine the security company $2,500 for not following protocols and not complying with the laws that govern them, which require them to allow the work of an authority to safeguard the safety or life of people.
An investigation will also be carried out to determine whether the land that is being sold for more than $300,000 is legal and solvent, and whether it complies with urban planning regulations.
Likewise, the collection of taxes and municipal fees from 69 luxury homes in the residential area will be carried out through legal means.
“We call upon all residential areas, neighborhoods and apartment buildings to not deny entry to municipal teams that conduct periodic inspections to verify compliance with ordinances, health inspections, construction site inspections, mitigation, civil protection, citizen emergencies, and reports of neighborhood disputes that threaten lives,” said Mayor Flores.
“There are even fewer who can block the work of national authorities, and even more serious in the context of an emergency than trying to save human lives regardless of their business name, religion or sex,” added the councillor.
