The data of the bulletin on the Covid-19 pandemic of Thursday 22 July. The positivity rate rises to 2.3% (yesterday 1.8%) with 219,778 swabs. Admissions: +38. Intensive care unchanged

I’m 5.057 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 4,259, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4.302.393 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 15 (yesterday there were 21), for a total of 127,920 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.119.607 e 1.483 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (2,235 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 54.866, equal to 3.558 more than yesterday (+1.998 the day before).

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 219.778, which is 15,319 less than yesterday when it was 235,097. While the rate of positivity 2,3% (the approximation of 2.30%); yesterday it was 1.8%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday, beyond the threshold of 5 thousand. To see more than 5,000 new positives you have to go back to May 21, when the circulation of the virus was decreasing, while now it is growing. A more correct comparison with the time when the curve was rising, i.e. October: the data is similar to the numbers recorded in mid-October (+5,372 cases on 9 October 2020). In the last week (14-20 July) the growth of new positives was + 115% compared to seven days before, as shown by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation, but in the same period they also decreased in deaths, equal to -26.9% (76 victims against 104, or 28 fewer). On the front of the new cases – explains Nino Cartabellotta, president of Gimbe – there is a net weekly increase, probably underestimated by insufficient testing activity. While deaths continue to drop, 76 in the last week, with an average of 11 per day compared to 15 the previous week. The increase in hospitalizations is more contained: + 5.9% ordinary hospitalizations during the week and + 5.1% in intensive care.

The health system

Ordinary hospitalizations are slightly increasing and those in the critical area are decreasing. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m +38 (yesterday +2), for a total of 1,234 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care they are unchanged compared to yesterday, for a total of 158 seriously ill patients, with 12 admissions to resuscitation (yesterday 9).

I vaccinated

The vaccine doses administered are over 63.2 million. Citizens who have completed the vaccination cycle are more than 28.5 million (52.83% of the population over 12). Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
