50th birthday for the La Martinella Choir: Saturday 30 October the event at the Tepidario del Roster

The La Martinella Choir turns 50 and celebrates with an event dedicated to choral singing. Appointment Saturday 30 October at the Tepidario del Roster, in Via Bolognese 17 / A, from 10.15. It begins with a conference on choralism which will see, as speakers, the Masters Ettore Galvani, ethnomusicologist and President of the Italian Federation of Regional Choral Associations, and Walter Marzilli, professor at the Pontifical Institute of Music in Rome and the Notre Dame University of South Bend. In the afternoon, from 2.15 pm, the musical part of the celebrations will begin with the presentation of the volume “50 years of the Choir” edited by Luca Giannelli and the new CDs “50 years, 3 Maestri, 1 Coro” and “All’ombra del Tricolore ”offering new songs and a collection of songs directed by the masters who have alternated over the years


The La Martinella Choir was born in 1970 within the Florentine section of the Italian Alpine Club. The repertoire includes both classic mountain songs and Tuscan folk songs, the latter being the result of systematic research in various areas of the region and a distinctive feature of the choir.Born to share the passion for music of a group of friends, over the years the Choir it has developed more and more to perform in prestigious international stages. The name La Martinella, in honor of the choristers’ love for Florence, evokes the famous bell that rings to remind the city of the liberation of Florence.
