51 years of Regicide Genocide in Burundi

Commemoration in Belgium of the 51 years of the Regicide Genocide: the assassination of Mwami Ntare Ndizeye Charles and the Genocide against the Bahutu of Burundi in 1972.

Brussels (Belgium, Capital of the European Union), 04/29/2023 – In the presence of a diplomatic corps of Burundi led by the much appreciated Ambassador of Burundi in Belgium, the eminent Ambassador Ntahiraja Thérence and his team, the Burundian diaspora in Belgium solemnly commemorated the 51 years since The infamous assassination of the King of Burundi, Ntare Ndizeye Charlesin the infamous Burundi regicide, as well as the genocide against the Bahutu of Burundi of 1972-1973, which resulted in more than 1.5 million victims, out of a population of nearly 3 million citizens. Two separate ceremonies, organized respectively by personalities from the Baganwa community of Belgium and Barundi citizens such as M. Nine hundred Gervais , M. On Monday, December 20, 2021, Burundi’s Parliament and Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) described the events of 1972-1973 as genocide against the Hutus, during a meeting held at the Kigobe Convention Center. Afterwards, on Friday April 28, 2023, the Supreme Court in cassation chamber in Bujumbura rendered a decision annulling the judgments of the War Council of Gitega and Bujumbura rendered in May 1972. This decision means that the victims of the regicide genocide in Burundi, as well as their families, will no longer be considered traitors or “abamenja”.
However, the Barundi are still awaiting state recognition of the regicide genocide of Burundi.

From 1959 to 1972-73, the United States, the Vatican, France and Belgium have worked together to ending the traditional state of Burundi, known as Ingoma y’Uburundiand for establish a market economy.
