The 52nd Indian International Film Festival kicked off in Goa. L. Murugan, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting addressed the inaugural function of the festival. L Murugan said that the Central Government was making various efforts to make India a suitable place for the film industry, adding that an office had been set up for filmmakers to obtain all the necessary permits for filming in one place. In his speech, L. Murugan said that the contribution of MGR, Shivaji Ganesan and ND Rama Rao to the film industry was immense.
