Born in Amritsar in 1936, Naseem Begum’s family moved to Lahore after the establishment of Pakistan. She had a passion for singing from her childhood. She started learning classical music from singer Farida Khanum’s elder sister Mukhtar Begum (Agha Hashar’s wife) at a young age. In 1958, he started his artistic journey regularly from Radio Pakistan Lahore, then the musician Shehryar introduced him to the film industry through a song from his film “Innocent”, “Neenon Mein Jal Bhar Aye Roth Gaya Mera Pyaar”, but he was at the height of his fame in the film “Haveli” in 1964.
