The strengthening of care in hospitals, the quality of care and improvements in hospital management is a priority for the Minister of Public Health, José Ruales, who was on the night of this Tuesday, March 23, 2023, at the Marco Vinicio Iza Hospital in Lago Agrio canton.
The health authority spoke with patients and representatives of the Citizen Health Committee to propose a roadmap to improve the quality of services at this establishment. Ruales reported that new health personnel will be assigned from April with the incorporation of 54 specialists from a process of 184 contracts scheduled for this year at the hospital.
The hiring of personnel is carried out in a transparent and public way, through a competition of merits and opposition that allows the selection of the most suitable professionals, also in accordance with what is established by Amazonian regulations.
The health authority reported on the allocation of resources in the amount of $854 thousand dollars for hospital maintenance; as well as the endowment of five new ambulances for Sucumbíos; distributed as follows: two for Shushufindi and Lago Agrio; one in Gonzalo Pizarro. The procurement is being managed with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on a project involving the procurement of 158 pre-hospital care vehicles.
The territorial analysis allowed to include the tomograph and mammograph as basic equipment and priority financing that will be worked with the support of the World Bank, projected for the end of the year.
Regarding the supply of medicines and supplies, this health establishment exceeds 60%. From the warehouses of the Zonal Health Coordination 1, the medicines that were purchased through an electronic catalog will be distributed, which will guarantee 95% of the resources. To date, there are purchase orders for medicines that will be received in 2023.
