5+5 Committee reassures of the stability of the ceasefire

by times news cr

The 5+5 Joint Military Commission reassured the Libyans of the stability of the ceasefire, stressing that all committees supervising its implementation and monitoring continue their work.

The committee said in its final statement following its meetings in the city of Sirte that all the rumors that the Joint Military Committee has abandoned its role are pure slander and a lack of understanding and appreciation of the mission entrusted to the committee.

The statement stressed that the committee is working within a specific framework related to the ceasefire and monitoring its implementation, and that it has not been tasked with unifying the military establishment and does not have sufficient powers and capabilities to expel mercenaries and foreign forces or organize and include armed groups, and that this is within the powers of the executive bodies of the state.

The statement also stressed the committee’s full commitment to activating its headquarters in the city of Sirte and working from it, and limiting its meetings to its headquarters in Sirte on a permanent basis until the completion of its assigned mission.

The statement indicated that the committee studied during the meeting the state of political division and its impact on the implementation of the remaining ceasefire provisions, as well as on the state of national security of the country in general, and the committee will announce its position on this to the Libyans in the coming few days.
