jpnn.comJAKARTA – PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto celebrated his 58th birthday on Sunday (7/7) today. Hasto chose to express his gratitude by contemplating.
As in previous years, there is no special agenda to celebrate the birthday. Moreover, today coincides with the commemoration of 1 Muharram.
“In our tradition in Jogja, the night of 1 Suro must begin with a clear inner attitude. I am one of those who never celebrate birthdays, especially when it is the month of Suro,” said Hasto in Jakarta.
So far, every time he has a birthday, Hasto has lived it simply. Getting closer to nature, such as climbing a mountain or celebrating it by scattering fish seeds.
However, this year, the man from Yogyakarta prefers to contemplate. According to Hasto, in the midst of his busy schedule lately, the effort to contemplate is a very important part of life. And he learned the tradition from PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.
“Mrs. Mega has a tradition of dialectical, yet contemplative thinking, so she is very strong in her principles, and her vision is built from the dialectic of the mind and felt with the eyes of the heart,” said Hasto.
“Therefore, on this birthday, I choose to pause my activities for a moment to reflect and understand the events that have occurred. Hopefully, I will be more dedicated to the nation through Bung Karno, Bu Mega and PDI Perjuangan. There are so many ideas from Bung Karno and Bu Mega on how to institutionalize the Party in the light of ideology. The Party leads the people’s movement and must be a torch of light for the future,” continued Hasto.
Hasto then explained that he was currently focusing on completing his dissertation entitled Strategic Political Leadership, Ideology, and Institutionalization, and Its Relevance to Party Resilience at the University of Indonesia. He said that he had many discussions with Megawati regarding this research.
As in previous years, there is no special agenda for Hasto to celebrate his birthday.
