London: Media tycoon and 92-year-old Rupert Murdoch is getting married for the fifth time. Sixty-six-year-old Anne Leslie Smith is the bride. It is reported that both of them got engaged before the wedding. Ann was the wife of Chester Smith, a western singer and radio-TV executive who died in 2008.
Rupert Murdoch and Ann Leslie Smith responded to the New York Post regarding the wedding news. Rupert Murdoch said he was very nervous and scared to fall in love but this would be his last marriage. Murdoch also added that he is very happy and they are both looking forward to spending the second part of their lives together.
Anne responded to the news of the marriage saying that it was a gift from God for both of them. ‘We met last September. I have lived as a widow for the past 14 years. Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. Worked in local newspapers. And ran radio and TV stations,’ said Ann.
Murdoch split from his fourth wife, actress Geri Hall, last year. Murdoch has six children from his first three marriages. Murdoch’s first wife was Tricia Booker. This relationship has a daughter. He later married Scottish journalist Anna Mann. He has three children. His third wife is Wendy Dang, who is in business. He has two children from this relationship.
Murdoch is the head of several media organizations including Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Sun Network and The Times. Murdoch’s assets are reported to be around $17 billion.
