He Ministry of Environment of El Salvador said the epicenter was located in front of Liberty Coast70 kilometers (km) from the south of Playa Mizata and had a depth of 13 km.
The organization ruled out the risk of a tsunami, but the authorities of the Central American country deployed an operation to assess possible damages and impacts.

Later, Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, reported that there were no material damages or fatalities due to the earthquake, but he assured that there were currently two aftershocks greater than 4.0.
“After the 6.1 magnitude earthquake (the figure of 6.0 was revised upwards), there have been two strong aftershocks of 4.1 and 4.5. Thank God, there have been no personal or material damages reported so far. 100% of services and traffic on roads continue without interruptions,” the president wrote on his ‘X’ account.
The earthquake in El Salvador was felt in Guatemala, so much so that the sensors of the Seismological Service of this nation recorded the tremor reporting that it occurred 73 km from Acajutla, but of magnitude 6.2.
