Doha: A young man was arrested at the Doha Hamad International Airport with drugs and counterfeit notes. He hid the drug in a cloth hidden in the bottom of the bag. Customs officials shared pictures of the seized items on social media. The bag contained 6.107 kilograms of drugs. He was later subjected to a detailed search and found to be in possession of counterfeit notes.

Doha: The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two foreigners for financial fraud in Qatar. Those arrested were those who promised to convert ordinary paper into US dollars using certain chemicals. During the search, CID officials seized several pieces of paper of the same size as the US dollar. Some chemicals, powders and some other items used in the scam were seized. Defendants pleaded guilty during questioning. The arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to the concerned authorities for completion of further legal proceedings.

The Qatari Interior Ministry has demanded that financial transactions, including money exchanges, be conducted only through authorized financial institutions or banks. The ministry has also warned people not to trade with other moneylenders who come forward offering attractive benefits other than through the banking system.
