AMRAVATI: Five people were killed when a train collided head-on with another train in Andhra Pradesh on Friday, police said.

The superfast train was traveling from Guwahati to Hyderabad. At that time, the train stopped halfway due to a technical problem in the village of Pattuva.

Passengers waited a long time for the train to be repaired. However, due to the delay in alignment, the six passengers on the train were standing on a nearby railway track. Then the Konark train was coming on that track.

Noticing this the 6 of them were standing and talking. Then the Konark Express collided with them. Six people were killed on the spot. Upon learning of the incident, the Railway Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences over the accident. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy also expressed condolences.
