JAKARTA, Waspada.co.id – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has responded to the alleged leak of 6 million Population Identification Number (NIK) and Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) data which has recently become the focus of public attention, Thursday (19/9)
The alleged data leak reportedly includes personal information of a number of high-ranking state officials, including Jokowi, vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati herself.
Jokowi stated that he had taken quick steps by instructing several government agencies to immediately take mitigation measures.
“I have ordered the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Ministry of Finance to mitigate as soon as possible. Including BSSN to mitigate as soon as possible,” said Jokowi as quoted by Kompas.com.
Password Negligence
He indicated several possible causes for the data leak.
“All data may be due to negligence of passwords or because of too much data storage. Different places can be a space for hackers to hack,” he explained.
Jokowi also emphasized that the problem of data leaks does not only occur in Indonesia, but also in various other countries.
Prior to the President’s statement, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance has responded to this issue. Dwi Astuti, Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations of the Ministry of Finance’s DGT, stated that his party is still in the stage of deepening the information.
“Regarding the circulating data leak information, the DJP technical team is currently conducting an in-depth investigation,” he said.
The alleged data leak was first revealed through a post on the social media account @secgron on Wednesday (18/9).
The account shared a screenshot of an account named Bjorka offering 6 million NIK and NPWP data for sale on a forum.
The data is offered at a price of 10,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp153 million (assuming an exchange rate of Rp15,300 US dollars). (wol/kompastv/ryp/d2)
