3,300 m in the Dolomite Mountains of northeastern Italy. Due to a heavy snowstorm on the high Marmalada mountain, the glaciers began to collapse.
As rescue operations continue there, the death toll is likely to rise as more people are feared trapped in the avalanche. Warm weather is said to be the cause of the avalanche.
