Shock to the soul!

The Siromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) party has won the by-election for the Sangrur constituency in Punjab, giving a shock to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. Sangrur is the constituency won by the current Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the 2019 parliamentary elections. Following his victory in the 2022 Assembly elections, Deer resigned as Member of Parliament. In the by-elections, Simranjit Singh Mann, the candidate of the Siromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) party, won with 5,822 votes more than the Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gurmail Singh.

Bhagwant Mann – Kejriwal

The Aam Aadmi Party, which won a landslide victory in the last 2022 assembly elections by winning 92 seats, has lost the by-elections just three months after coming to power. That too, the defeat in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s constituency of Sangrur has caused a stir within the party. In Sangrur, the stronghold of the Aam Aadmi Party, the victory of Simranjit Singh, who has not won any election since 1999, is seen as a setback for the ruling Bhagwant Mann government.

Despite being fortified in Punjab, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has won the by-election for the Rajinder Nagar Assembly constituency in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Durgesh Pathak has defeated BJP candidate Rajesh Patia by a margin of about 11,000 votes.
