The losses of the chip manufacturer TSMC from the earthquake in Taiwan will reach about 60 million dollars, reported the Taiwanese newspaper “Gunshan Shibao”, quoted by TASS and BTA.

These are consequences of the fact that the working day at the company’s facilities due to the earthquake lasted about 6 hours and, in general, the effect was limited, the publication said, citing a representative of the company.

It was previously reported that TSMC had evacuated personnel from production and construction sites during the earthquake. Employees will return to their jobs after checking the safety of the premises and equipment.

This morning Taiwan was rocked by the strongest earthquake in 25 years. According to data from the Taiwan Central Meteorological Administration (CMA), the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 occurred at 7:58 a.m. at a depth of 15.5 km. The epicenter was about 25 km southeast of Hualien in eastern Taiwan, the CMA said. So far, four people have been reported dead after the earthquake.
