The second volume of the CNV (National Truth Commission) report noted in December 2014 that at least 8,300 indigenous people were murdered during the military dictatorship. At the top of the list are the 3,500 Cintas-Largas, a people who live between the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso, in the southwest of the Amazon.

Since November 1963, shortly before the 1964 coup, the case gained notoriety in the report for its brutality. The 11th Parallel massacre, as it became known, led to an uncertain total number of deaths. Mentions from the time and in later documents indicate nine to 20 victims.

However, the killing did not begin or end there. Previous attacks, such as the use of dynamite dropped from airplanes, and later ones left an estimated number of victims at around 3,500.

The investigation was difficult, according to the 1967 Figueiredo Report, due to the participation of a large part of the extinct SPI (Serviço de Proteção aos Índios) that maintained illegal businesses exploiting indigenous lands. Rapes would continue during the dictatorship, with reports of massacres into the 1980s.

The gaps, both in the exact number of victims and in the responsibility or the characterization of the crime as genocide, make it difficult to construct a more precise memory, according to experts consulted by the reporter.
