UNRWA explained that education is not available in its 200 schools in Gaza, because many of these schools are used as shelters for displaced Palestinians, and some schools were destroyed as a result of Zionist bombing.
The agency confirmed that its teams continue to provide recreational activities and psychological and social support in some schools, with the aim of mitigating the impact of the current conditions on students.
UNRWA also pointed out that children in Gaza are suffering from the consequences of the humanitarian crisis, including the risks of disease outbreaks, and said it is continuing its efforts to vaccinate children against polio.
On its behalf, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that the second phase of the polio vaccination campaign came to an end on Sunday in southern Gaza, where more than 256,000 children under the age of ten were vaccinated in Khan Yunis and Rafah within four. days. The first round of the campaign achieved a success rate of around 70%, as more than 446,000 children were vaccinated out of a target of 640,000.
