60s show: The disappointing Ford Bronco comeback

by time news

The return of the Ford Bronco – this time with the sixth generation of the model – to our lives, after 25 years, is a happy occasion for everyone who has been here and driven and known the Bronco somewhere, between the 60s and 90s. I’m a little happy to say I did not have a driver’s license in the ’90s, so I’m not part of the celebration, but it’s hard to ignore the buzz and festivities surrounding the relaunch.

As someone who lived the automotive world, I was thrilled to see the first vehicles landing in a port in the country, the first carrier to take these colorful and refreshing cars to the center of the country, and a big smile came over my face when I got the keys to drive it for the first time.

Bronco, past and present, is Wrangler’s direct competitor, and the war between them is tough, with each model beating the other by points, each by a different criterion. Comfort, performance, safety, usability and also design. Entertaining – but logical – that whoever made the Bronco was among the people who made the first Jeep.

Both of these models have returned to us in recent generations a little differently, with a modern look and style, high space capabilities, but also with high usability for everyday needs. This involves improving their ride comfort, tires, inserting travel auxiliary systems and advanced safety systems into their guts, and sealing and isolating noise on the ride.

The trend to turn an SUV into an SUV is on the rise, and I personally, as one who can enjoy a “light” surface, but also need the vehicle to serve me in a “regular”, welcomes it.

I got the “delicate” terrain version, if you can call it that, called OUTER BANKS, out of three impressive versions. It’s quite rugged, and its off-road performance is surprising and fun. Faced with the other two terrain versions, it lacks a number of terrain assistance systems, such as differential locks and front pole disconnection, no side-threshold protection, or bottom protection, or Bilstein’s unique shock absorbers.

The transmission ratios in it are different, as are the rims (18 inches) and the tires (32 inches, instead of 33 or 35). And all this to allow people who love terrain but less “sick” to choose it. It is suitable for drivers because it will be happy to roam the sands and paths of kurkar and bumps, quickly, quickly and with great pleasure, and are not expected to reach a difficult and challenging rocky terrain route. A well-equipped and useful SUV is also useful for everyday use, and we will soon talk about the daily use of the Bronco.

The modern Bronco is one of the most beautiful and impressive SUVs seen here in the country, and in general. These are not only its massive dimensions that will turn heads after it, it is simply a combination of past, present and future, with a square front and shape, reminiscent of the Bronco from its early days, with round lanterns that have become beautiful, round and large LED lanterns, trapping.

The unique jubilant horse emblem of the Bronco is located on the right side of the rear, next to the replacement tire. Not the aristocratic horse of the Ferrari brand, but a special breed of horse from a country in the United States, known as the “Bronco.”

It has useful handles, its materials are high quality, and can be removed to clean sand, mud and stains. The version that came to me for the test includes useful comfort equipment, which arrived in time for the cold winter days: seat heating, steering wheel heating, side steps that are not afraid of being damaged with the terrain route this vehicle will see in its life, nice leather upholstery and more. There are a variety of extras that you can buy for an additional fee, such as a dedicated iron table that will be used with you to stop food on trips.

In terms of technology and entertainment systems, I was very surprised to see an SUV for off-road multimedia system with a 12-inch touch screen. Size not seen in family vehicles. It’s impressive and adds a lot. I was curious to know how high-level technology, for all its sensitivities, goes hand in hand with frequent field trips, tremors, shakes and light blows from every direction.

The dashboard is nice and unique in appearance, also an eye-catching addition to an SUV, measuring 8 inches. Digital, beautiful with useful information. A good, more or less good, ten-speaker audio system, from B&O.

And not only that, but also a good and useful peripheral camera system, and a charging pad for the mobile that both charges excellently and also captures my mobile as soon as I put it on. It’s always impressive and adds points when things work, and work well.

I got a two-door, four-seater Bronco version. It can also be selected with four doors and five seats. The two rear seats can be fully folded, until flattened, in order to load large objects. The roof over the driver and passenger Freak. I was able, on the watch, to disassemble and assemble it in less than ten minutes. Excuse me, this was my first time with the vehicle, and the two roof parts are not particularly easy.

But it takes two eyes in mind to understand how it’s done, the opening and closing, and that’s another vi for usability. The back of the roof can also be opened and disassembled, but there is a need to deal with wires and plugs, and I am less concerned with electricity and wiring.

Bronco arrives in Israel with a 4-on-4-wheel drive system, of course, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo engine (Ford Eco Boost), six-cylinder, 330 hp, maximum torque of 57.4 kg at 3,100 rpm, mated to a box Ten-speed automatic transmission, which works well.

The vehicle was with me for 48 hours, and 70% of the time we were examined on asphalt roads – on the way to the field, on the way to photos in a green and open meadow, or when I picked up my son from school and managed to park in the “weapons and drive” area. At every stage and everywhere I drove, there is a variety of driving and propulsion modes, for every mode and route – sports, eco, mud and sand.

I enjoyed feeling how easily he climbed the short climbs I found to climb. How he grins on the slope and the high step, at least in my eyes, which I tried to cross carefully. I know I have not exhausted a tenth of his abilities, I have seen that he wants and can devour much more than that. In terms of space, the competition against the competitor from Jeep is tough, but in the Badlands and Wildtrak versions, even in tough technical terrain, he manages to do the unbelievable, when it all comes down to style, technology and modernity. And there is his magic.

On the road I felt like in the “gray giant”, but I was comfortable, and the seats are supportive, and spacious and very comfortable in it. The steering wheel is excellent, and its turning diameter made the maneuvering in the city comfortable and simple. The engine was barely audible, only if I accelerated it, and its sounds were audible to my ears. In terms of noise insulation – there is really nothing to expect quiet in the cabin of an SUV with a freak roof and huge tires.

And yet, peaceful enough in the cell and relatively sealed. Not a feeling of a pampering crossover, but a feeling of an SUV, an evil beast, that provides everything the driver and passengers need, gracefully and pleasantly. The sheet is short of detailing the safety systems and technology in the vehicle. But there are six airbags, and an Israeli safety rating of 6 out of 8. There is no autonomous braking on the reverse or a warning system for leaving children in the vehicle.

The fuel consumption at the two-door ORETER BANKS Bronco that I examined amounts to 7.4 kilometers per liter, if you drive a car in comfort. It will go down to the 6-kilometer-per-district districts if you want to squeeze a little and have fun with it in light terrain. Price: starting at NIS 385,000. 
