VERONA. The patient of Albanian origin who was burned in the explosion of the Aluminum in Bolzano has recovered and returned home. He was admitted on June 21 to the Burns Center of the Aoui in Verona, directed by Maurizio Governa, and after 63 days of treatment he was discharged on Friday, August 23.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient immediately appeared to be in very serious conditions both for the extent of the burns and the complexity of the wounds. In fact, he underwent two surgical operations, one on the trunk and upper limbs and one on the lower limbs, with hospitalization in Intensive Care. Once the situation was stabilized, he was transferred to the Semi-Intensive Care Unit of the Burns Center, which is the reference center for the Region, for specific treatments. He was first treated with an innovative gel for enzymatic debridement and then with the Meek surgical technique for skin regrafting.

Three patients from Bolzano were admitted to Borgo Trento after the accident: the first, with minor burns, was discharged after a few days; the second, aged 31 and with burns on 57% of his body, unfortunately did not overcome the acute phase and died the day after his arrival in Verona; the third, aged 34, with burns on 50% of his body, returned home on Friday 23 August.
