64% of people killed at the hands of the police in São Paulo are black – 11/17/2023 – São Paulo

Of every 10 people killed by the police in Bahia in 2022, 9 were black. The proportion among fatalities in the State was repeated in Pará.

In Rio de Janeiro, this relationship reached 87% of the 1,330 deaths. In São Paulo, blacks represented 63.9% of the deaths.

This is what emerges from the new edition of the report “Skin as a target: the bullet does not miss the black”, published by the Network of Security Observatories.

Data was collected from eight states through the Access to Information Act.

In Pernambuco, all those killed by the police in Recife in 2022 were black, the same as in 2021. In total, 91 victims were recorded last year.
