64 years later, the Agency finds itself today at a pivotal moment in its history, where it aims to support major changes in the media sector by breathing new life into its overall dynamic, and by refocusing on the profession press agency.
Created on November 18, 1959 with the broadcast by the late HM Mohammed V of the inaugural dispatch: “Information is sacred, commentary is free”, the MAP has accompanied the major stages of the contemporary history of the Kingdom and the Continent, in ensuring that it monitors and promotes the development of the national media landscape and positions itself at the forefront of the diversity and pluralism that make Morocco strong.
Over the years, while capitalizing on its achievements, the Agency has succeeded in establishing itself on the regional, continental and international levels, thanks to dedicated experience in information processing and renewed generations of experienced journalists.
Resolutely part of the major reform projects initiated under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, MAP has forged the image of an agency concerned with the expectations of an increasingly demanding clientele in terms of reliability, precision and speed.
With a staff of 300 journalists, distributed between the central editorial office in Rabat and its regional and international networks, MAP is a partner of numerous foreign agencies and positions itself as the main wholesale supplier of verified information available in various media formats, from dispatch to infographics, including audio and video products.
It provides national media and foreign partners with a varied information feed, updated 24/7 and available in 5 languages (Arabic, French, English, Spanish and Amazigh). Faced with the major challenges of the fight against fake news and disinformation, the dangers that threaten journalistic practice and the issues linked to adaptation to technological transformations, the MAP today also aims to position itself as a leading figure in Moroccan media diplomacy, upholding the values of ethics and integrity.
This is how this 64th anniversary marks a turning point in the evolution of the Agency, more determined than ever to mobilize all of its skills with a view to innovating, reinventing itself, surpassing itself and succeeding, with a common objective. and shared: that of always giving its letters of nobility to the work of a press agency.
