Current panorama in Mexico and Latin America

To better understand the current panorama, according to the study Work Burnout: How to prevent a fire in organizations?67% of Mexican employees feel emotionally exhausted by work.

The investigation carried out by Buk was carried out from April 24 to May 5 and had the objective of making visible the level of burnout or chronic work stress that people have in their jobs. It was carried out considering a sample of 1,600 people in Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

Every year 12 million work days are lost due to mental health-related leave. While people who experience burnout are 2.6 times more likely to quit their job.

“For this reason, mental health in organizations has become increasingly important. Burnout has established itself as one of the complex phenomena that people management experts must be aware of. With this report we seek to educate and raise awareness among people about the importance of being attentive to symptoms and having good mental health at work, which will be reflected in their productivity and standard of living,” said Andrés Gomez, Country Manager of Buck Mexico.

These surveys, in addition to showing indicators of Burnout syndrome in Mexico and the region, they also complement the x-ray of labor perception, adding the concept of quiet quitting. The questions asked were aimed at detecting how often the employee was experiencing sensations or emotions that could be related to work stress. For example, a feeling of anguish before going to work, overwhelmed or exhausted with the work team, among others.

Based on these responses and in addition to interviews with experts on issues of mental health and occupational well-being Some of the most notable findings of the report are the following:

About the Burnout Syndrome:

● 5% of people over the age of 50 have symptoms of burnout.
● Young people are more susceptible to experiencing occupational burnout.

About work enthusiasm:

● Job burnout is more common in men than in women.

About Quiet Quitting:

● 37% of survey participants are not enthusiastic about their work.
