STORY – Normandy ran around the world, 670 marathons, without assistance and on four continents.

If, as the explorer Théodore Monod asserts, “to live is to constantly move forward”, then Marie Leautey took a small step towards the secrets of immortality. For almost three years, this Norman woman braved the Covid epidemic and its border closures, the crushing Mediterranean heat, the threat of wild animals in the American West, insecurity and a tsunami alert in Chile and the void of the Australian deserts, to complete his world tour at the end of 2022.

A 28,294 km loop equivalent to 670 marathons (approximately 40.5 km daily), or almost six per week, with a 30 kg stroller in front of her. An exploit validated by the World Runners Association, a federation which validates this type of exploit subject to precise criteria.

Marie Leautey now has her place in the Guinness World Records. Because, to date, only seven athletes have officially run around the globe. Marie is the second woman after Rosie Swale Pope to have done so. The British…
