The Azerbaijani team won its sixth medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Our freestyle wrestler, who competed in the 125 kg weight category, won the bronze medal. He won the fight for 3rd place. This is the second bronze medal for our country in Paris, which has 2 gold and 2 silver medals.

His medal went down in Olympic history as the 55th award won by Azerbaijani athletes. Our team, which debuted in Atlanta-1996, achieved this figure in its 8th Games. Azerbaijan, which has 9 gold and 16 silver medals, won its 30th bronze medal.

This was the first success of our freestyle wrestlers in Paris. In total, they won 13 awards: 3 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.

Overall, our wrestlers won 2 bronze medals in Paris. This is the wrestlers’ 27th medal: 4 gold, 8 silver, 15 bronze.

It should be noted that at Paris 2024, gold was previously won by judokas Hidayat Geydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoev (100 kg), silver by taekwondo wrestler Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) and boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg), and bronze by Greco-Roman wrestler Khasrat Jafarov (67 kg).
