A team of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials will visit Australia this April. Under the Australia-Bangladesh Cricket Partnership, selected officials of BCB will visit various cricket structures in Australia.
BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan confirmed RisingBD’s trip to Australia. Sujan told this reporter over the phone, ‘We are working on it, everything will be finalized soon.’
There will be 7 officials in this team to travel to Australia. The team will comprise representatives from BCB’s Grounds, Facilities Management, Finance and Marketing-Commercial departments. However, the BCB Chief Executive said that who is staying has not been finalized yet.
Most of the travel expenses will be borne by the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh. This includes international and domestic airfare, hotel and travel expenses for 7 members. BCB will only bear the daily allowance of the officials. Apart from this, if there are any additional members beyond the prescribed 7 members, the board will bear the full cost.
However, when asked about the activities of the program, BCB CEO Nizamuddin told RisingBD, ‘Our work is in progress. Everything is final. If everything is fine, I will inform you in detail.’
2022 marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Australia. Then the country came forward in cricket development. In 2023, the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh entered into an ‘Australia-Bangladesh Cricket Partnership’ agreement with the BCB.
These include infrastructure and facility development programs, education programs, player development programs, player injury management and management short courses.
A few days ago, the Australian women’s cricket team visited Bangladesh. They are playing a three-match ODI and T20 series. Australian High Commissioner Nerdia Simpson was present on the day of the T20 series prize distribution ceremony. The presence of High Commissioner or high-ranking officials can be seen in various BCB events.
