An attack targeted a drilling company, mobilized as part of the social works of the President of the Transition, last Tuesday around 5 p.m., reveals the General Staff of the Armed Forces in a press release made public yesterday at the start of the evening.
The attack was perpetrated by armed men on the Guiré-Nara axis, specifies the military hierarchy, adding that the prompt reaction of the elements of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) based in Nara made it possible to recover a vehicle of the mission with two survivors. Another vehicle was found set on fire by the attackers with a death toll of 4.
“In addition, the prompt reaction of a FAMa mission from Guiré against an attack by the same assailants in 3 vehicles in the same sector on the same day around 7 p.m. resulted in a balance sheet of 3 assailants neutralized and one of their vehicles destroyed”, indicates the Army which specifies that there were no victims on the side of the FAMa. The search initiated by the military continues in the area, adds the same source.
While presenting its condolences to the families of the victims, the General Staff of the Armed Forces indicates that “by targeting this enterprise whose objective is to reduce the suffering of vulnerable populations, the terrorists display their despair, their helplessness and the absence consideration for human life”.
The military hierarchy salutes the collaboration of the population for the supply of information allowing to track down and destroy the terrorists in disbandment.
