Chennai: The Tamil Nadu High Court has said that all the files related to the release of seven people serving life sentences in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case were sent to the President by the Governor on January 27 last year.
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet passed a resolution on September 9, 2018 to release seven people, including Nalini and Murugan, who are lifers in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and sent it to the Governor for approval on September 11, 2018.
Nalini, who is serving a life sentence, had sought to be released without waiting for the governor’s approval to wait for his decision as the governor was late in the resolution sent by the government.
