Thiruvananthapuram: A girl was raped by a neighbor last week in Kerala. As a result, the girl became pregnant. The girl’s father filed a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking permission to terminate the girl’s 24-week pregnancy after she became ill. The court heard the case and the High Court allowed the girl to undergo surgery and take the child.

In this case, the mother of a 13-year-old girl from Thrissur also filed a similar petition. In it, her daughter was raped by her 16-year-old son and became pregnant. Now, it was mentioned in the petition that steps should be taken to terminate the 30-week fetus.
Judge Arun, who inquired into this, said, ‘Recently, the number of girls being raped and getting pregnant is increasing. It is very painful. Parents should monitor the use of internet by girls. Sex education should be expanded in schools. This girl can be operated on and the 30-week baby can be taken out,’ he ordered.
