A week ago, Washington and Danny Avdia posted two straight wins, and five games into the season, they still haven’t been able to replicate that. The Wizards suffered their first home loss tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) with 127:117 to Indiana, who ran away in the first quarter and dropped the team from the US capital to a 2:3 balance.

Avdia started again with the five and got 20 minutes, in which he scored seven points (3 of 7 from the field) and grabbed two rebounds, but he and his teammates just couldn’t keep up with Indiana from the start. The Pacers (4:2), who lost to Washington at home 114:107 in the season opener, ran 2:22 in the first quarter, already leading 15:30 and 28:36 at the end.

The trend continued in the second quarter as well, where an 0:8 run led to a 50:70 lead for the Pacers and a 60:75 advantage only at halftime. Washington still managed to minimize damage until trailing by only seven points at the end of the third quarter, Indiana ran away again to a 17 point difference, the Wizards tried to come back again and got closer to 114:108, but no more.

Bradley Beal scored 31 points for the Wizards, Kristaps Porzingis added 22 and Kyle Kuzma 18 and nine rebounds. Myles Turner (10 rebounds) led Indiana with 27 points, Tyrese Halliburton (12 assists) and Buddy Hield had 25, and Aaron Nasmith and Jaylen Smith had 15.
