jpnn.comTEMBAGAPURA – Tembagapura Police Chief AKP Jevri Hengky Jeremi said that seven landslide victims in his area had been found.
The plan is for the victims to be buried on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Jevri said that the landslide that occurred in the Wini area (Kali Kabur), in Tembagapura District was due to high rainfall.
“It is true that there has been a landslide in the Wini area (Kali Kabur), indeed since yesterday the rainfall has been high and has resulted in a landslide,” he said as quoted by Antara, Sunday (14/7).
According to Jevri, on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at around 09.00 WIT, his party received a report from a resident named Mekme Kulla that a landslide had occurred in the Wini area (Kali Kabur).
“The report we received was that seven people died due to the landslide, five from the Moni Tribe and two from the Damal Tribe,” he said.
He explained that the identities of the five adult victims were not yet known, as were the two child victims.
“Indeed, there has been high rainfall since Saturday, July 13, 2024, so that a landslide occurred on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 03.00 WIT,” he said again.
He also appealed to the public to always avoid landslide-prone areas, considering the current high rainfall levels.
A total of seven people who died in the landslide incident in Tembagapura were buried on Monday (15/7).
