The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allocated a budget of USD 70 million to host the Champions Trophy in 2025 in Pakistan. This budget was passed in the last ICC board meeting.
The budget was proposed under the leadership of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ICC Financial and Commercial Committee Chief Jai Shah. Later, all the directors passed it in the board meeting. Besides the 70 million dollars, the Pakistan Cricket Board will get an additional 4.5 million dollars. PTI quoted an ICC official as saying, “The estimated budget is 70 million dollars and the board will get an additional 4.5 million dollars as other expenses.”
It is assumed that the organizers will have to spend this additional 4.5 million dollars for special reasons. That reason is to host India. India will not get permission from the government to go to Pakistan. They assumed that. It was also discussed in the ICC board meeting. Organizers have to incur additional expenses for organizing Indian matches in other countries. That’s why ICC has allocated extra money to them.
Last year Asia Cup was also held in Pakistan. India has not even made a service visit to Pakistan. As far as is known, India will not go to Pakistan again this time. For this reason, BCCI has offered ICC to organize India’s matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka.
The window for the Champions Trophy is from February 19 to March 9. ICC wants to finish this season of 8 teams of 50 overs in 20 days.
