Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman addressed the farmers’ convention ⁤in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He highlighted the 70-year friendship between Pakistan and China, emphasizing that ​China had made Pakistan a gateway for global trade. He expressed concern over Western countries’ attempts to ⁤disrupt these economic relations.

Rehman argued that the reliance on foreign ​wheat imports, despite ample domestic ⁢production, was detrimental⁤ to ‍the economy. He criticized the government’s decision to prioritize non-standard wheat, claiming that this action⁢ was severely ⁣impacting agricultural prices. He ⁢expressed his belief that the current economic situation ‌was unsustainable⁢ and that the ​incoming government would be ‍unable⁢ to address ​it.

The cleric also criticized the Prime ​Minister’s failed attempts to restore economic relations with ‍China. He claimed that China‌ had expressed concerns ⁢about Pakistan’s⁢ political instability and advised the government to address the issue before seeking ⁣reconciliation. Rehman alleged that neither the Prime Minister nor the army chief had been able ‍to resolve the situation.

He further warned that Islam and ​Muslims would not be​ allowed ⁢to thrive under the⁤ current‌ government. He promised that Muslims would resist any attempt ⁣to undermine their⁣ faith or institutions. He referenced the American occupation of Afghanistan‍ and their ‍subsequent withdrawal, ​suggesting that Pakistan would not hesitate to confront any foreign interference.
