The Administrative Control Authority announced that public spending from 2012 to 2023 has reached more than 722 billion dinars, according to Central Bank data.
The Administrative Control Authority added in its annual report, which reveals government spending, public debt, and violations from 2011 until the end of 2023, that total public expenditures from 2012 to 2022 amounted to more than 648 billion dinars, according to the Audit Bureau.
The administrative control explained that the total spending for sectors funded by the public treasury during 2023 amounted to more than 125 billion dinars, and the total public debt since 2011 amounted to more than 154 billion dinars.
The Administrative Control Authority stated that the total public debt during the past 3 years, according to Central Bank data, amounted to more than 84 billion dinars, and that the total public debt of the parallel government from 2015 to 2020 amounted to 69 billion and 956 million dinars.
The administrative oversight pointed out that public spending on Chapter One (salaries) amounted to more than 372 billion dinars, or 41% of the total budgets from 2012 to 2023.
The Administrative Control also clarified that there is a difference in recording oil revenues and disbursements from 2012 to 2023 between the Central Bank, the Finance Ministry, and the Foreign Bank due to different procedures.
The administrative oversight indicated that the total number of employees by the end of 2023 amounted to more than two million and 99 thousand employees, with total salaries amounting to about 60 billion dinars.
The administrative control showed that the total loans and financial support to other countries since 1969 amounted to 56 loans to about 40 countries, with a value of more than two billion and 400 million dollars, indicating that the interest due on foreign loans amounts to more than 4 billion dollars.
The Administrative Control Department revealed that the number of defendants in financial and administrative cases registered and under investigation from 2017 to 2023 reached 3,565 defendants, noting that 82 convictions were issued against defendants from 2017 to 2023.
