The data for Thursday 5 August. Over 7,000 infections in 24 hours, like on 14 May. The current total positives exceed 100,000, bringing the figure back to June 16. The positivity rate rises to 3.4% (yesterday 3%) with 212,227 swabs. Admissions: +100. Intensive care: +8

I’m 7.230 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 6,596, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4.377.188 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 27 (yesterday there were 21), for a total of 128,163 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.147.979 e 3.371 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (3,565 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 101.046, equal to 3.826 more than yesterday (+3.004 the day before). Today, the total of current positives – up for 20 consecutive days – exceeds quota 100 thousand, bringing the figure back to June 16, the last day there were so many infected citizens.

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 212.227, or 3,521 less than yesterday when there were 215,748. Lazio tests are still missing, not communicated due to the hacker attack *. While the rate of positivity 3,4% (the approximation of 3.406%); yesterday it was 3%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday, beyond the threshold of 7 thousand, like May 14 (when the curve was downhill). A more correct comparison with the time when the curve was uphill, namely autumn: the figure similar to that recorded on 14 October (+7,332 cases) but with almost half the deaths (43 deaths that day) . The trend remains on the rise, as shown by the comparison with last Thursday (29 July) – the same day of the week – when +6,171 cases were recorded with a positive rate of 2.7%: today there are more new infections than July 29 with a higher percentage.

According to the monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation, slows down the increase in cases on a weekly basis: + 20% the new positives in the last week (July 28 – August 3) compared to the week before (the previous increase was + 64%). Despite this, the number of people hospitalized in the medical area (+ 36.3%) and in intensive care (+ 36.5%) continues to rise: the absolute numbers remain low, but with significant regional differences in the saturation of beds. Instead, deaths remain stable: 120 victims over seven days, against 111 the week before (+ 8.1%), with an average of 17 deaths per day compared to 16 the previous week.

To have the greatest number of new infections the Veneto which also processed the largest number of regional swabs of the day, ie over 36 thousand: here are +888 cases with a rate of 2.4%, which is a point lower than the national one. Follows the Sicily with +831 cases and 3.8% rate calculated on almost 22 thousand swabs. At an altitude of 700 are then: Lombardy (+793 cases with 2.2% rate, here the bulletin) e Tuscany (+765 cases with 5.5% rate).

Globally 200 million cases in the world have been exceeded (here the map).
